Abstract

This Working Plan is the third Working Plan of the Rohtak Forest Division which has been prepared for the period of 15 years spanning over 2013-14 to 2027-28. The erstwhile Rohtak Forest Division has been divided into two Forest Divisions viz. Rohtak and Jhajjar Forest Divisions after creation of Jhajjar as separate district. Jhajjar district was created on July 15, 1997 but the Forest Division came into existence in the year 2004. The jurisdiction of the Forest Division is co-terminus with Rohtak District. The current Working Plan has been prepared taking into consideration all the recommendations prescribed in the First Preliminary Working Plan Report and decisions taken in the various discussions of the recommending committee and in accordance with the guidelines of National Working Plan Code. The area under forest cover in Rohtak Forest Division is 4594.35ha which is merely 2.75 percent of the total geographical area of the district. Most of the forests in the division are strip forests falling along roads, canals, drains and railway lines and are notified as Protected Forests (3956.75 ha). The area of block forests in the division is 41.20 ha wheras areas closed under Sec 4&5 of PLPA 1900 is 221.00 ha. The area under unclassed forests is 375.40 ha. The management of forests of the Division is under two Ranges viz. Rohtak and Meham. Safeda, Kikar, Shisham, Neem, Musquite, Bakayan, Jand, Muscat etc. are the major species of trees found in the tract. The yield has been calculated on the basis of the fresh growing stock for various species provided by DFO (T), Rohtak. Green felling has been prescribed for Eucalyptus species only. For other species, prescriptions have been made for dead and dry removals or any kind of emergency felling has been prescribed.
